The opening of Windham Hospital's new Emergency
& Outpatient Services facility is a momentous
occasion for all of us who live or work
in the greater Windham Region. This $8.5
million project represents a major advance
in community healthcare for people from
the 19 towns that we serve and beyond.
Our new facility now boasts a 15,000 square
foot emergency center equipped with state-of-the-art
technology to serve you. The Jeffrey P.
Ossen Emergency Center, named for our principal
benefactor in this project, doubles the
size of our emergency facility, and has
the technology, computerized systems and
trained staff to bring excellent emergency
services to our community. [click

gift] We are prepared for trauma care,
cardiac emergencies, obstetrics, orthopaedics,
bioterrorism incidents, and a host of other
medical emergencies. Larger and more private
treatment rooms with natural light, dedicated
behavioral health space and a family room
are now included in the Emergency Center.
Through our expanded relationship with
Hartford Hospital, we have direct access
to cardiology specialists trained to deliver
tertiary cardiac procedures such as Angioplasty,
Cardiac Catheterization and Angiography.
In addition, we have partnered with Jefferson
Radiology to provide advanced professional
interpretation of all imaging studies performed
at the Hospital. Jefferson is the State's
premier Radiology Group and has an unsurpassed
reputation for quality and accuracy.
Our talented staff of professionals are
here to serve you. They will listen to
you, care for you, and help you to overcome
the stress of an emergency visit. With
our commitment to patient and family centered
care, we will work to improve the experience
of care while enhancing healthy outcomes
for you and your family.
Many of our outpatient services are now
conveniently located on the first floor
of the Hospital with a dedicated entrance
to the Greer Wing. [click

Center] On-grade parking will allow
you to easily access our new registration
area, laboratory, and waiting areas. Cardiac
Rehabilitation, cardiovascular diagnostics,
and neurodiagnostics can all be accessed
in this beautiful renovated wing of the
hospital, and we anticipate future upgrades
for the CAT scan and MRI facilities. Most
importantly, the same caring staff will
be there to serve you.
This is a very exciting time for Windham
Hospital as we offer advanced technologies,
such as our new Picture Archival and Communication
System (PACS), an inpatient Hospitalist
Program, and the addition of newly recruited
physicians to our family of providers.
The PACS system will enable us to send
images to your physician or to specialists,
greatly enhancing our diagnostic capabilities
now and into the future. New physicians,
called "Hospitalists" trained and devoted
to the care of in-patients, are now on
board to provide services to patients admitted
to the Hospital. They will work closely
with your primary care physician and can
provide answers in person, to you and your
family. We are also thrilled to welcome
a number of new physicians to our area
including, most recently, orthopaedic,
ophthalmology and emergency medicine/toxicology
specialists.
All of this would not be possible without
the generous contributions of so many people
in our community. As we strive to provide
excellence in community healthcare, we
rely on greater philanthropic activity
to respond to the many challenges before
us. We are confident, with our outstanding
care-giving team and broader family who
care deeply not only for Windham Hospital,
but for residents and neighbors throughout
our region, that we will be successful.
